...dark is not enough.

We created Necrotic Tissue for two main reasons. First, we love horror in all of its many forms. Second, we believe Horror is on the cusp of finally being recognized as mainstream literature. The Golden Age of Science Fiction occurred from the late 30's through the 50's. We believe we are currently living in the Golden Age of Horror. Many great writers have come before us to get us to this point, and we want to help you become a recognized part of it.

Writers accomplish this by exploring the human condition and classic morality plays within the bounds of horror. The protagonist can be good or bad and win or lose. The ending doesn't have to be happy or sad, but some component of the story must be unsettling, disturbing, and dark in order to be classified horror. Read more of what we are looking for and what we don't want on our Submission Guidelines page.

We call ourselves the Writers' Magazine. We want everyone to subscribe and read Necrotic Tissue, but we started the magazine because we wanted to support horror writers. We do this three ways. First, we provide a stable paid market that showcases new writers. Next, we strive to turn around all responses to submission in a timely manner. Finally, we provide a personal response to everyone we reject. We can't workshop stories, but we point out one or two of the main reasons we chose not to select the story.

One thing that our writers have asked for is print. Nothing feels better (besides the very first acceptance), than to hold a printed publication that has your story inside. We have heard the feedback, and after six volumes as an ezine, we have decided to go to print.

Please support small press horror by subscribing today.

Buy Us In Print

Starting with the July issue, Necrotic Tissue is going to print. The great experiment. Same great stories, same great format, same cool graphics. Download all of our 2008 PDF issues for free, to see what you're missing.

MALPRACTICE

Pick up our anthology of stories about Bloom Memorial Hospital. You will never go to a doctor again. Unless you're dead, I guess. Even then, you might want to reconsider.

This publication is dedicated to the late Dick McCoy - father of the publisher and head editor- who lived more than most, and had more than his share of Necrotic Tissue cut away.
